Sometimes the hum is caused by a bad transformer. Most of the time it is caused by DC current contaminating the AC supply. This problem is becoming more and more common, in large part due to the widespread adoption of LED lighting. The toroidal transformers used in hi-fi components are particularly susceptible to this problem. Optional Facedown Converter Plate The Puritan Audio Labs PSM156 comes as standard with four rubber feet for horizontal placement. The optional facedown converter plate allows the PSM156 to be mounted vertically, with the sockets facing upwards. The converter plate replaces the standard front fascia with outriggers and isolation feet. It is a great option if you would like to place your PSM156 behind your hi-fi rack or other furniture.
